The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is the statutory body responsible for regulating Ontario’s capital markets in accordance with the mandate established in the provincial Securities Act and the Commodity Futures Act. The mandate of the OSC is to provide protection to investors from unfair, improper or fraudulent practices, to foster fair, efficient and competitive capital markets and confidence in the capital markets, to foster capital formation, and to contribute to the stability of the financial system and the reduction of systemic risk. This mandate is performed through policy, operational, adjudication and enforcement work. The OSC also contributes to national and global securities regulation development.

The Enforcement Branch supports the OSC in delivering fair, vigorous and timely enforcement. The Enforcement Branch investigates and litigates breaches of securities laws in Ontario. Staff work closely with other securities regulators, self-regulatory organizations and law-enforcement agencies to enhance initiatives to fight misconduct. A strong enforcement presence assists in protecting investors from unfair, improper or fraudulent practices and in fostering fair and efficient markets.
The Business Analytics and Solutions Unit of the Enforcement Branch is currently recruiting for an Information Analyst to actively research and provide critical intelligence information support to internal and external clients to advance the OSC’s regulatory mandate. This includes intelligence support to further Enforcement investigations and assist other OSC branches in fulfilling their regulatory responsibilities. This would be a great opportunity for someone who has previous entry-level experience in the financial services, legal, regulatory or law enforcement field, and is looking to begin their career in intelligence gathering to support investigations.
What will you do?
· Research sensitive intelligence information about companies and individuals from internal and external databases for investigations
· Analyze and input the results of the research and communicate to internal and external regulatory clients, managing such information in accordance with strict confidentiality and use requirements
· Monitor and manage internal processes and systems to receive, and respond to, requests for intelligence information from clients in a timely manner
· Develop, consider and implement diverse research and database management strategies and devise creative solutions to challenging problems
· Respond clearly and concisely to a wide variety of requests for information and troubleshoot effectively
What do you need to succeed?
· A minimum of 4 years’ related experience in conducting research and analysis obtained through experience in the financial services, legal, regulatory or law enforcement field
· Excellent research, analytical and problem-solving skills, with a deep focus on attention to detail and demonstrated ability in synthesizing a multitude of details from various sources
· Ability to deliver results in a fast-paced, high-volume and dynamic environment as well as deal with sensitive and confidential information in a discreet and professional manner
· Degree or diploma, preferably with a focus in Law, Finance and/or Business, or equivalent experience
· Experience using RCMP Canadian Police Information Centre Systems would be considered a strong asset
· Experience with other databases such as Teranet, GeoWarehouse, Cyberbahn/Ecore, PPSA, Bankruptcy Canada, NRD, CRD, etc., is considered an asset
